Overview
The Cedar Grove Community Church has a long history of helping people find God in their lives, grow together, and serve their neighbors. The church is located in Livermore, California, which is 40 minutes east of San Francisco and home to over 50 of the sunshine state’s famous wineries and breweries in the Livermore Valley.

Founded in 1946, the church relocated to its current site in the late 1960s, with the most recent renovation taking place in the 1990s. After growing steadily for two years, the time was finally right to remodel and update the building. “Our church has an 80-year history,” said Andrew Poe, the head of Spiritual Development & Operations. “In the past few years, we’ve been focused on revitalization. We’ve been trying to fix everything — we’ve replaced the carpet, repainted, and added all new tech and multimedia. The last step was the chairs.”
The church’s old chairs were from the 1990s, upholstered in a maroon fabric. The new color palette for the church was sleek and neutral, so the maroon chairs really stood out. “The old chairs needed to be replaced. The cushions were flat, and the fabric looked outdated. Some of our chairs had candle wax all over them, and the foot pegs (the floor protectors) were falling off all the time,” said Andrew Poe.
The Research
Replacing seating is a big step for a church. “It’s not like painting — getting new chairs costs money. We didn’t take the decision to get new chairs lightly. We did a lot of research,” said Andrew Poe.

They compared chairs from Canada, Amazon, and China, and then started looking closer to home. “We borrowed some chairs from a bigger church nearby, and we really liked them. We turned the chairs over, and the label said Bertolini,” said Andrew Poe. “There are cheaper chairs on Amazon, but they aren’t the same quality. There’s nothing like Bertolini. We like the high-quality construction and the overall wow factor of Bertolini Chairs.”
They contacted a Bertolini sales representative, who offered to bring some sample chairs by for them to try out. “Our sales representative was great to work with and really part of the reason we went with Bertolini,” said Andrew Poe. “We appreciated the personal service. We chose Bertolini both for the quality of the chair and the professionalism of our sales representative, Ren Texeira.”
New Chairs for Easter

Christmas and Easter are among the busiest times of the year for churches. So, once Cedar Grove Community decided to get Bertolini chairs, their next goal was getting the chairs delivered in time for Easter.
“The fact that Bertolini understands the needs of churches shows. Our multipurpose areas need to be flexible — you have to be able to pull the room apart and put it back together for different events. Bertolini chairs are great for that,” said Andrew Poe. The chairs aren’t as heavy as their old chairs, and they stack easily, making it easy to set up the room in different ways.
After refreshing every other part of the church, getting new chairs was the final step in revitalizing Cedar Grove Community Church. Andrew said that everyone really likes the chairs and finds them very comfortable. “We like the kind of midcentury modern gray color, and they look great in the church. They have a real wow factor.”
